More of us living in the United States are choosing to recognize our self-responsibility for health and well being. This has led to a renewal of interest in natural, holistic methods of living and healing the body. One of these methods, as old as man's civilization, is cleansing the colon.
Colon irrigation lost it's popularity after the introduction of the American Medical Association in the 1930's when our culture was introduced to pharmaceutical drugs and surgery. Before the 1920's, colonics were an integral part of hospital treatment; in fact, the medical profession "black-balled" physicians or nurses who did not give colonics for specific conditions such as appendicitis attack. In 1923 the medical association hired a man from Harvard to write textbooks for the medical schools in the United States. That writer based his medical knowledge on the premise that "toxic poisons" in the colon have nothing to do with symptoms of sickness and disease." That premise is still in the medical texts used today, and yet, more and more people today believe that statement is totally false.
This is a great tragedy because the importance of cleansing the colon was lost and the health of our society has been on the decline ever since.
Drugs and surgery have their place in our lives but we must take our health into our own hands and not be misinformed. Unfortunately many people are not informed or quite ill informed about colonics, including members of the health profession.
The body has not changed from it's original design. We put food in our body, nutrition is absorbed into our body, and finally what is left exits the body. Many of the health problems that we live with are problems we can control by getting rid of what should be moving through our systems not collecting in them. At lease three-quarters of modern civilized people are suffering to a greater or lesser degree from constipation. You don't have to feel constipated to be constipated. Bringing people back to nature is a key in restoring vital health to our society.
A colon may let fecal matter pass through it but it is unable to carry on the last stages of digestion and toxic buildup can occur. Some symptoms from this buildup which is referred to as "autointoxication", are fatigue, depression, gas, headaches, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, nausea, skin blemsishes, bloating, loss of memory or concentration, bad breath, lower back pain, coated tongue, body odor, cold hands and feet, swelling, blood pressure problems, just to name a few. Remember cancer of the colon ranks next to heart disease as the most frequent cause of death in our country.
Unfortunately, the Basic American Diet (BAD) or Standard American Diet (SAD) mixed with stressful lifestyles works against the healing processes of our bodies and can leave us with an unhealthy colon. We can end up with problems like colitis, spastic colon, diverticulitis, ballooned sigmoid, prolapsus, irritable bowel symdrome (IBS), Crohn's Disease, constrictions, gastritis, diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, and so on.
Colon hydrotherapy not only cleanses the colon, it also helps reshape the colon, exercises the colon, tones the colon, stimulates reflex points in the colon, and hydrates the body. When you go through a series of colonics you are detoxifying the entire body. The body has an easier time healing and keeping up with it's life processes when it doesn't have to deal with unwanted and unnecessary toxins.
In order to be healthy the body must be nourished by what we eat, drink, and breath. We must get adequate rest and we must detoxify toxins and obstructions by using modalities like colon hydrotherapy.
"The colon is the most neglected and forgotten part of the body. Colon health emphasizes prevention rather than a cure. It is the most important step in maintaining or regaining vital health. The very best of diets can be no better than they very worst if the sewage system of the colon is clogged with the collection of waste and corruption. Colon health is the key to a vibrant life!"
